The American Youth Football League (AYFL) has reached its 2nd round which is its semifinal and it’s time for teams to punch their tickets to the Super Bowl. Here are some of this weeks more interesting semifinal match ups.
Pembroke Pines Bengals PW Vs. Tamarac Cougars PW
This is one of a few semifinal contest that has two teams matching up who haven’t played each other this season.The Bengals come into the game haven’t lost a game all season and took care of business last week in its 1st round contest against Coconut Creek 20-6. The underdog Tamarac Cougars have had a good season this year but want more and are very hungry for a chance to play in the super bowl. This should be very exciting football game, look for tremendous athletes #25 Conrad Johnson for the Cougars and #80 Ryan Turner for the Bengals to be a factor all day in this game.
Pembroke Pines Bengals 115s Vs. Cooper City Cowboys 115s
These two rival neighbors are no strangers to one another. In what was last season’s super bowl match up on the 105 division these two teams now have to face each other to have a right to go on to the super bowl. The Cowboys, coached by Rocky Morgan, struggled a bit to start the season but strung up enough victories down the stretch to get it together and make a push for another super bowl appearance. The Bengals led by coach Chuck Bender, have a had business as usual season going undefeated and blowing teams out and are looking for another appearance in the championship game. It should be a lot of exciting moments in this game with great players on the field like #3 Willie Davis who could end up in the end zone at any second in the game also look out for #5 Mark Britt who makes plays. Cooper City has great talent of it’s own in #25 Myles Wilson, who’s a tough runner with a great amount of talent. Look for this game to be an all out battle.
Plantation Wildcats 125s Vs. Miramar Wolverines 125s
This match up has meet its trilogy. The Wildcats and Wolverines have met twice already this season with the Wildcats coming away with the victories. Miramar is hoping that the third time could be the charm for them as they look to avenge those two losses with just one very important win to advance to the AYFL super bowl. Plantation wants to get over the hump with these group of kids and advance to the super bowl for the first time. Look for this game to display hard hitting and explosive offense play making all over the field. For Miramar, look for #5 Desmond Branton to run ball in hopes of getting his team to the championship game. Plantation has a great group of athletes who are hungry to get a chance at the AYFL title led by #4 Miguel Edwards and #7 Rodney Adderley. This game could be another instant classic.
Weston Warriors 140s Vs Davie Broncos 140s
The Weston Warriors are coming off a classic match up against the Sunrise Gators where they saw their championship hopes flash before their eyes. But the Warriors pulled it out. The Broncos last week had the whole league in shock as they knocked off Hotbed’s #1 ranked pound for pound team Cooper City Cowboys. With those plug ins to this game, you know we should be in for a great game between two teams that met earlier this season. During that match up, Weston just kept rolling and defeated the Broncos 24-6. But Davie says it’s back this time and fully loaded and look for a lot of #23 Faion Hicks for the Broncos and you could never take your eyes off of #20 Milan Lemon who could be gone in a flash. The Warriors have one of the best backs in the league in #28 Danny Montoya who put the team on his back last week for there thrilling victory. Expect nothing but great football out of this game.
Pasadena Lakes Panthers 140s Vs. Pembroke Pines Bengals 140s
A rivalry game for the chance to go to the super bowl and it gets no better than this. The Pasadena Panthers came into this season with a lot of expectations but after a few losses, some got a little skeptical about the 120lb AYFL champs. But the Panthers weathered the early storm and are ready for there semifinal match up that leads them to the chance to defend there crown. The Bengals were counted out this season but as many PPO teams they are in familiar territory and have a chance to go to the AYFL super bowl. This game has an interesting back drop to it as #1 Stanford”BJ” Samuels III is the starting QB for the Panthers who spent most of his youth football career as the same for the PPO Bengals. Now he has to go through his old teammates for a right to go to the super bowl. Coach Lance Rigby’s Bengals were impressive last weekend as they blew out Plantation. Look for #4 Anthony “PNUT” Johnson to try to make plays for his team in which could be his last run for a championship in youth ball.
Tamarac Cougars UNL Vs. Coral Springs Chargers UNL
In a rematch of a 6-o ball game where the Cougars prevailed these two rival teams meet again for a chance to try and win it all. The Cougars are a squad that don’t care how they win as long as you don’t score and they do. And that’s what they’ve done all season as they went undefeated and on scored upon all season long and continued last week as they beat the Jaguars 6-0. The Chargers have played solid football up to this point and wanted nothing more but to have another chance at the Cougars and now they have the chance after defeating a decent Davie team.Springs is led by #1 Keyshaun Bryan who is a tough and speedy athlete that can change a game quick. Tamarac has some top notch athletes in #1 Shanda Gordon and #4 Kobe Green. This grudge match should be exciting from start to finish.
