The Battle of Liberty City: Gwen Cherry Bulls vs. Liberty City Warriors

Posted in:

Miami, Fla–On a visit to Gwen Cherry’s NFL Yet Center and practice facilities, the streets were lined with cars from parents, coaches and players who were all on the practice field getting ready for a big weekend in South Florida youth football.  This is the week where rivals meet head to head as the Gwen Cherry Bulls face the Liberty City Warriors with the Warriors playing host at Charles Hadley Park.

Historically, this match up has proven to be filled with a lot of excitement.  Last year’s games were no different as several upsets took place, stealing the overall rivalry headlines.  The then 80-pound team dubbed as the “swag boys” of Gwen Cherry suffered their only defeat of the season to the Liberty City Warriors 80-pound team.  They call themselves the ‘Jack Boys.”  The bravado of each of these nicknames is personified by the children who play at what is now the 90-pound division in Greater Miami Pop Warner.

Here’s a preview of this week’s games below and a game that was just added to the slate was the Midget game, featuring Gwen Cherry Bulls and the Little River Saints with former 7th grade South Florida All-Stars Jaquan Beaver and Corey Hammett of the Bulls facing Little River’s Justin Hill.  It’s a game you do not want to miss.
