HSFB: American Heritage (Plantation) Shows ‘Edge’ in Victory

Plantation, FLMiles Jones wasn’t going to let his team lose the Florida State semi-final.  The 2018 athlete for nationally ranked American Heritage made two wonderful plays and a host of other contributions that made their 21-14 win over Tampa Jesuit possible Friday night.

The game was a matter of American Heritage enforcing their will on a team that was well coached but just under sized.  Career rush leader, Malik Davis who is committed to the University of Florida, showed prowess.  But it was Jones who stole the show.  After a series of three and outs by both teams, Jones raced for 67 yards after a catch and go route from quarterback Jason Brown.

Later in the third quarter, Jones again rushed around the left corner and raced 70 yards to the end zone.  The University of Miami assistant coaches marveled as he showed his explosiveness and pure speed-vision combo that made him a big name coming out of Middle School.  Jones had a stellar youth career but was heavily into basketball to start his high school career.

After injuries and a transfer, it seems he is poised to take the offensive regins at Hertiage.  Important because the Patriots all-world defense needed a definitive playmaker.  Jones’ seemingly saying, ‘Here and I, send me.’

Jones and American Heritage will play Ponte Vedra later this week for a state title in Florida’s 5A classification.
