Plant City, FL–Once again, Central Florida’s Plant City plays host to the United Youth Football League National Championship tournament. This is a tournament that leaves no question about whose winners get the most ‘swag’. Teams from both the Northeast and the Midwest flock to Florida each year searching for the title, National Champion.
The focus again this year is on the Maryland Seahawks 14U team that is on an unprecedented run. According to head coach Jarvis Thomas, the team finished “with a 21-0 record,” during the regular season. They played teams from 12 different states across the country, most of which were nationally ranked and undefeated.
“Every single team we have played this year has been undefeated, had one loss or was an all star team,” said Thomas on his post.
“We’ve played teams from Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Baltimore, DC, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan, New York, Delaware, Tennessee and Canada.”
It’s an impressive list of travel but not unprecedented for Thomas and the Seahawks. They traditionally take the best from their area and aim to go around the country, challenging any team that claims to be the “best” in their age group.
“We have played in 7 different states, we have out scored our opponents 687-86,’ he says.
The team finished the year with a +601 point differential according to their head coach. Now, their focus is on repeated as UYFL National Champions.
“Saying we are focused for this upcoming weekend is an understatement. Everything we’ve done this year means nothing if we do not return home Next Monday still undefeated,” said Thomas.
Their aim is to be 2016 UYFL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
