FIU’s Anthony Wint Named To Preseason All-Conference USA Team

FIU senior linebacker Anthony Wint was voted onto the All-Conference USA preseason team, the conference announced Monday.

The conference’s 14 head coaches voted and a list consisting of 12 offensive players, 12 defensive players, and five special teams players was formed.

Wint, a Homestead High School product, was the only Florida International University player to receive the preseason honor.

As a junior, Wint was among the Panthers’ leading tacklers with 108 total stops (57 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Wint was a two-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honoree and earned All-Conference USA second-team postseason recognition in 2016.

No players from Florida Atlantic University were selected to the preseason All-Conference USA team, while Western Kentucky led the way with seven players named to the team – including Hilltoppers senior quarterback and South Florida native Mike White, who was also voted as the preseason favorite to be named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year.
