Bald Predictions – High School Football Week Eight

(14) Davie Western Wildcats (6-0) vs. (20) Plantation Colonels (4-1)
Friday at PAL Field, 7 p.m.

This is an underrated gem of a game.

Western has quietly been having a very good season up to this point; building off its 2016 season that included a trip to the playoffs.

Plantation has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts this year. All is right in the Colonels’ world because head coach Steve Davis returned to the sidelines before the start of this season.

This game will have some extra sauce to it.

This will be Western’s toughest test up to this point and the Wildcats will want to prove that they are for real.

Plantation will be fighting for their playoff lives for the rest of the year since it lost to Miramar this past Monday. While losing to the Wildcats this week will not sink the Colonels’ playoff hopes, they need to stockpile victories to ensure that they have the necessary points to stay in the race.

The deciding factor in this game is simple – can Western defend Plantation’s Wing-T offense. After seeing the Colonels operate firsthand, they can gash teams with various trap-action and counter-action runs with Khamani Adelson, Michael Cheley and Tyrik Bellamy.

Western should benefit from playing against Cypress Bay – another Wing-T team – this past week and I think the Wildcats offense should be in good hands with quarterback Harrison Story and running back Keshaun Clarke.

Bald Prediction = Western wins 24-20
