West Broward Breezes Past Cooper City, Wins District

Posted in:

The West Broward Bobcats went into Cooper City on Monday night for a make up game that would offer them a chance at their first ever district title should they come out on top.  They did.  The vaunted Single-Wing offense of the Bobcats, led by a trio of backs: Eric Hoff, Jr., Jason Montes De Oca and leading rusher Dominic Tianga.  Each one of these three backs had two touchdowns a piece en route to a 54-21 scrubbing of Cooper City in District 15, 7A in the state of Florida.

It was a historic night for head coach Monte Dilworth and his Bobcats who have trusted that they could build a team to compete in the western most part of Broward County.  They built it by getting kids to buy into their system of offense that caters to using kids in a myriad of ways and that hides some of the size deficiencies traditional football powers have.

But make no mistake, the Bobcats have loads of talent and that was clear on Monday night as they rushed for over 300 yards on the ground.  The Bobcats have two more games remaining.  A rivalry game against Everglades this week and a make up game next week against South Plantation.

Then it’s on to the playoffs where they’ll likely face St. Thomas Aquinas if they advance past the first round.
