2019 Quarterback Class Hotbed All-American Watch List

There are a lot of talented 7th grade quarterbacks who are rising 8th graders and who will have the honor of playing in Football Hotbed’s first youth football All-American game.  Here are a few of the talents across the nation that we are watching and who are under consideration for being selected.

Southeast

Nik Scalzo– Fresh off a victory in the FBU National Championship tournament as the starting quarterback for the 8th grade squad, Scalzo comes into this season as a big name quarterback based on the exposure he recieved.  He’s leaving the American Youth Football League and reportedly headed for the Miami Gardens Ravens of the FYFL to play unlimited football this season.  It should make him even tougher.

Griffin Helm-All he’s done is make sports center for his throws and lead his Creeks Outlaw team to a division II pee wee national title in Pop Warner in 2013.  He’s dynamic, headdy and fast.  This year he leaves Creeks for a chance to play division I ball in Jacksonville, Fla and he will become a member of the Mandarin organization.  

Seth McGill- They call him superman.  One of the most talented quarterbacks who is a household name in the South Florida area but relatively unknown in national youth football circles.  Super talented, tough as nails and he can throw.  All of the tools you need to play the position.  Even at such a young age.

Renzo Floyd– Still developing as a quarterback but has amazing speed and an amazing arm.  Once he finally puts them all together, he will be an elite talent.  He could even be one of the nation’s best.  He’ll lead a talented Carol City Chiefs team this season at QB after playing WR for the South Florida FBU national championship 7th grade team that Scalzo ran last January.

Jakori Jones- The reigning Hotbed Classic 12U MVP has completely blown up nationally and it’s no surprise to us.  We’ve seen him up close for the past two football seasons.  Jones has a quiet manner but is a complete beast on the football field.  He’s surrounded by so much talented at running back but surprises defenses when he lofts the ball way up top going deep for six.  The seventh grade south paw is a force to be reconked with and is certainly among the best in the nation at this grade level.

East Coast

Shane Steinlauf– Hailing from the great east coast and New York in particular, Steinlauf is a great quarterback prospect who will continue to get better.  He gets a lot into his throws and really slings the ball around and excels as a passer on the run, difficult at his young age.  He’s definitely a quarterback we’re going to continue to keep our eyes on as January’s All-American game approaches.

Midwest

Sam Johnson III- They call him SJ3, so you know that the kid can play.  The lanky and long signal caller out of the Detroit area is a special talent who’s quarterback coach describes as a ‘draft pick.’  Johnson is mature and capable of making all the throws at just a young age.  He’s a developing special talent because he’s still growing into his frame and may end up being as tall as 6’4.  But don’t just take our word for it.  See for yourself.

Southwest

Carson Collins- The Dallas quarterback has all the intangibles, leadership and tenacity.  He can also throw.  What we like is his rapid development from grade six to grade seven.  We expect this quarterback prospects star to continue to rise and get as big as the star in Cowboy Stadium.

West

Patrick Roberg- Smart, cool and collected under pressure for this west coast quarterback from the Agoura Chargers organization in California.  For his stature, he can surprisingly sling the rock around the yard.  As he gets older, we expect his arm strength to improve and since he’s been well coached, he should develop into an outstanding high school prospect.  Did we mention he can run also?
