Ft. Lauderdale, FL– The 2016 Middle School All-American game presented by Football Hotbed got of to a great start at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic on Wednesday. Players from around the country came to participate in the week long event, culminating with the All-American Games on Saturday January 7th at Nova Southeastern’s University School beginning at 11 a.m.
Players from power Football States have converged in South Florida to compete against some of the Nations best. Players will represent the State of Tennessee, Colorado, South Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Nevada, Virginia, California, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida.
The Competition started early on Day one as Athletes were put through Drills, one on one, and 7v7 to judge the ability of all involved. The Coaches then moved on to make selections of Teams by way of the Hotbed Draft Process. Teams were formed, now players will continue to compete over the next 2 days for positions and playing time on their teams.
Players that stood out on day one:
6th Grade: LB Terrance Neal looks and plays ahead of his years. He really gets after the Ball Carrier and shows good coverage from the Linebacker position.
7th Grade: QB Maalik Murphy from Inglewood (CA) showed great arm strength and accuracy on all his throws.
8th Grade: DL Elijah Lighthill-Barber showed great leverage at the point of attack and was constantly in the backfield of the Offense.
