Pompano Beach, FL-– There were nearly 80 in number at the 2015 All-American combine kick off in Pompano Beach, sponsored by the city, as five youth earned Golden Tickets, inviting them to participate in the 2016 Football Hotbed All-American game. Jayden DeMatthews of the 2022 class, David Richardson, Robert Floyd, Jr. and Vinson Davis of the 2021 class were joined by Caziah Holmes of the 2020 class as the initial All-American class.
All athletes had great combines and really put up numbers that made them stand out in the crowd of kids gathered at Pompano’s Mitchell Moore park for Saturday’s initial combine series stop in South Florida. After the combine exercises conducted by Parisi Speed School, the athletes then engaged in 1 on 1 workouts, culminating in 7 on 7 work giving the Hotbed staff the ability to gauge how talented each athlete was in a football setting. David Richardson is a 2021 Lineman that can play both sides of the ball but excels at center. He’s a talented long snapper and every down lineman who can control the line of scrimmage, even at a smaller size than most of his competition. Dozens of other athletes were named to the official All-American ‘Watch List.’ Those athletes were impressive enough that they’ll be watched throughout their seasons and evaluated further for a chance to be invited to participate in the Football Hotbed game this December in Jupiter, Florida.
The next All-American combine is in Upland, California on April 25th and then again on April 26th in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here’s a look at the profiles of the All-Americans selected in Pompano Beach.
Jaydn DeMatthews (#14) 2022 ATH– Treasure Coast Renegades. At 10 years old, Jaydn has been playing up on the 11U team and will play 12U this year with his mostly 7th grade teammates. It’s not why he caught our eye today, that was done by his excellent combine performance: 5.78 (laser) 40/5.03 shuttle/6’9″ Broad Jump and 20’4″ Power Ball toss.
David Richardson (#31) is a 2021 Lineman that can play both sides of the ball but excels at center. Robert Floyd Jr.(#45) is a bruising 2021 back. He introduced himself to the world as a member of Team Broward County in the FBU National championship Tournament. He’s a downhill runner and an absolute burner who can catch the ball well out of the back field. He notched an impressive day in the combine events also: 5.14 (laser) 40 yard dash/4.7 shuttle/8’1″ Broad Jump and a 26’9″ Power Ball toss. He’s truly one to watch in the years to come.
Vinson Davis (#19) is a tremendous athlete. We think he’s close to being the best in 2021 overall. He’s got strong competition on this same team with Robert Floyd Jr. joining forces with him in 2015 but Davis is amazing. He put up a very impressive combine resume at today’s combine: 5.27 (laser) 40/4.83 shuttle/a 7’5″ Broad Jump and a 22′ Power Toss. Davis earned MVP honors in the FBU National Championship game in a loss. Wow! He’s now Hotbed All-American.
Caziah Holmes (#40) an athlete in the 2020 class, is truly special. Hotbed didn’t know anything about him coming into the day and the Titusville, FL native worked his way into the spotlight. He took home MVP honors at the combine with an overall best performance (40=4.87 laser/shuttle=4.14/Toss=26’0″/Broad=8’10”) and earned All-American honors in the process. He’s 6’0 in the 7th grade already and plays running back mostly, but is all over the field.
