FYFL’s Ravens Add Coaching Legend to 12U Staff

The Miami Gardens Ravens 12U Has a New Head Coach

Miami Gardens, Fla.—The defending 12U Miami Gardens Ravens of the Florida Youth Football League have all gone down the street to Carol City to play ball at 13U.  However, the Miami Gardens Ravens who remain and commissioner Rod Mack don’t have any plans of relinquishing their title.

Instead, they’ve gone out and acquired National Championship winning Pop Warner coach Joe Narcisse, formerly of the 2009 ‘junior pee wee’ Pop Warner National Championship Liberty City Warriors and the 2012 Jr. Midget National Runner ups in Pop Warner representing Gwen Cherry.

Narcisse, known for his trademark army fatigue baseball cap, is a true heavy-weight coaching name in South Florida with years of experience and known for a tough brand of offensive football and for building solid teams.  His arrival at the Ravens program is sure to solidify their coaching staff and keep at home the kids who had been thinking about transferring to other programs.

“I’m coming to 12U just to ruffle the feathers of the Miami Gardens Chiefs, period. I’m coming to Flo [FYFL] and victim number one is going to be the Chiefs,” Narscisse told Football Hotbed via phone on Tuesday morning.

But when asked why he would leave Pop Warner (a weighted brand of youth football) for the FYFL, which is unlimited, Narcisse was frank.

“I got every trophy you can win in Pop Warner, including the runner ups, so it’s time to do something new.”

Rod Mack has scored seemingly his second consecutive off-season coup for head coaching talent and was excited about the prospects of what Narcisse brought to the table at the Miami Gardens Ravens program.  Last season he successfully lured Buddy Bailey away from Scott Lake and put him on the 13U staff and that team went on to win a league championship.

‘We got a battle tested coach.  This ain’t a D2 [division II] Pop Warner championship coach,’ said Mack.

Narcisse added, ‘anybody that’s been around football knows that me and [an unnamed pop warner coach] are in two different classes.’

He added that the expectations for his 12U team at the Miami Gardens Ravens would mimic the juggernaut in college football at the University of Alabama under head coach, Nick Saban.

“When you go to Tuscaloosa [Alabama] on a Saturday afternoon, you know it’s going to be hard to get out of there with a victory.”

Narcisse’s credentials are impeccable at the very least.  Nationally, he’s the only coach in the history of Pop Warner to take two different programs (2009 Liberty City Jr. Pee Wees & 2012 Gwen Cherry Jr. Midgets) to the Pop Warner National Championship.

This move is surely to shake up what already was anticipated to be a competitive year in 12U in FYFL with Coach Toro ‘Ro’ Wallace dropping down from his historic 14U Miami Gardens Chiefs post to take the 12U reigns, who promise to be a big rival of the Ravens during the upcoming 2015 season.
