Check out Hotbed Radio from Monday February 11th, we had a great show. First, we welcomed Steve Quinn, International Sales Director for Football University and president of the Southwest Florida Youth Football League. He talked about the new partnership between SWFYFL and South Florida’s new B.E.S.T. League that will play ball in the fall of 2013. This could be the beginning of an unrestricted league in South Florid in years to come. Meanwhile, the SWFYFL promises to bring a new brand to Collier County and is quickly becoming a hotbed of youth football talent.
Additionally, we talked to Hialeah High’s offensive coordinator Dennis Marroquin who is the head coach of the Florida High School “Fire” 7 on 7 team that won a national championship in 2011. Marroquin took to the airwaves of Hotbed Radio to refute allegations that his team discouraged kids who made the Fire from trying out for the South Florida Express, a popular 7 on 7 team in the South Florida area. Along with coach Marriquin, Dr. Lester from the South Miami 7 on 7 power “Hard Knocks” joined us to talk about what his team lends to the 7 on 7 market. He said that they truly aim to help kids without offers to play college ball get noticed.
We closed the show with talking to the Michigan Panthers youth football organization out of Detroit and president Rolondo Campbell. They will be playing in a AYF conference this year and have a traveling schedule playing teams from out of state. They are currently locked in to play a team from Delaware in 2013 and are looking to book a team from Texas and Georgia next.
