Miami, FL–As the recruiting season kicks into high gear this week, at Football Hotbed, we pride ourselves on spotlighting key players who have impressed our scouts. These are guys who are either not being recruited at all or are being under recruited based on their skill level. These are all players we have touched bases with personally and have seen play or perform in camps or combines.
Quarterbacks
David Isreal
David Isreal : We first ran into David at a camp in Atlanta, GA (Golden Arm). He was in a sea full of quarterbacks in his class and stood out. He qualified late and had D1 interest but chose to God to Butler Community College. All he’s done is help lead his team to a bowl game as a freshman against Eastern Arizona. Not bad. He’s got a live arm and also can move outside of the pocket when needed. Check out his highlights below.
Vashon Waiters: I liked Vashon out of Coral Gables High in Miami when I saw him against Carol City his senior year. There were a ton of other prospects receiving more attention than he was at the time, but I couldn’t understand why he wasn’t more highly recruited. He’s a big kid with a big arm and he’s got presence that a quarterback needs. As a full qualifier, he can leave ASA Miami College (a JUCO) in January to accept a D1 or FCS offer. He’s got the talent for it, that’s for sure. He is in the top half among JUCO QBs in ever statistical category that matters as just a freshman. If he does return, his stock could be even higher as he’ll have a full year to develop off season and play a much more highly touted schedule that should garner more attention.
Brandon George: George is a kid who moved from Jacksonville to Oklahoma after his freshman season and is the signal caller at one of the state’s best programs, Jones High. So he brings the Florida swag to the position and plenty of size/speed to play at the next level. All the academics are after him but he’s likely being passed up by some FCS programs who could use a solid guy like him or even some Group of 5 D1 programs.
Todd Centieo: Todd, who goes by Toddy, is a kid that can excite and really be fun to watch at the quarterback position. He was very strong out of the gate with his Freshman and Sophomore year campaigns and suffered injuries as a junior. This affected his recruitment some, as he was a former University of Miami commit. He’s now committed to Temple, a school playing for their league championship, but probably has talent that projects to a larger destination. Nevertheless, if he stays, he’s a steal for the Owls because of how explosive he can be, especially in a spread offense. His leadership and competitive fire set him apart.
