Team Florida’s 8th Grade Wins 14-7 Over Georgia, Sweeps Series

Bradenton, FL– Behind the arm of Chatarius Atwell and the from Raynell Killian, team Florida’s 8th grade team overcame a 7-0 deficit at halftime to come back and beat the Georgia class of 2018, 14-7.  It was Florida’s third consecutive victory over Georgia at 8th grade in the Future Stars All-Star game series.  In fact, since the game’s inception, Georgia has never beat Team Florida in 8th grade competition.

The come from behind victory for the 8th grade Florida team clinched a sweep of all three grades (6th, 7th and 8th) for Team Florida who played in state at IMG Academy.  Overall, the teams from Georgia scored just 15 points over three games compared to 51 by team Florida.

In the 7th grade game, Florida’s speed was just too much for team Georgia whose size was mitigated by their attempts to spark an air attack.  South Florida’s James Cook did most of the dirty work on offense and defense, scoring twice and helping his team win a resounding 27-8.

In the 6th grade game, Florida’s defense overcame early size issues with speed on the outside by their defensive line and linebackers, putting pressure on team Georgia’s talented offense.  They forced turnovers which lead to a field goal and another to a score.
