Youth: Seattle’s 8th Grade FBUNC All-Star Team Upsets Broward County

Naples, FL– Racing out to a 33-10 lead, Team Seattle’s 8th grade All-star team comprised of talent from all across the Northeast, hung on to beat Broward County to advance to the Football University National Championship Finals.  Head coach Sam Adams said it was a “great game” afterward.  He and his team had successfully avenged a crushing lost last year in the championship game to this very Broward team.

But this year, the Seattle team was primed and ready.  Fueled by notable upgrades to team size and speed, they raced out to a halftime lead and held on to fight off a furious second half comeback.  Broward is of course comprised of a team predominantly made up of Ft. Lauderdale Hurricanes 13/14 players in 8th grade.  That team won the United Ranking System National Championship, a Florida State Championship and their Florida Youth Football League Super Bowl Title.  They are largely seen as the best in the entire country.

Top rated youth player, Amari Daniels, a Football Hotbed Middle School All-American played amazing rushing for three scores in defeat. His fellow teammate and an All-American in his own right, Vinson Davisadded two scores of his own.

But it wasn’t enough.

Two critical turnovers that were returned by Seattle for touchdowns were the difference in the game.  Broward, making no excuses after the game, has played a lot of football in the month of December.  The core of their team played three games during Thanksgiving weekend in Haines City, FL.  Following that, they played three games in the opening round of the Football University National Championship and then a grudge match UYRS National Championship game vs. the I.E. Ducks that they squeaked out in overtime.

This weekend they played two games back to back on Saturday and Sunday, the game they eventually lost.  Seattle now moves on to face Maryland in the championship of the FBUNC.  Coach Terrence Bryd of Maryland will be looking for his second FBUNC title, his first as an 8th grade head coach.
