Hotbed Radio | February 10, 2014

Hotbed Radio’s Monday night show was another great edition of the nation’s best youth football radio program. All eyes were focused on Jacksonville’s Sweetwater Pop Warner organization as they are in the midst of major shake ups. It’s one of those “wow” moments for a program that has produced many. At the crux of it all is the staff of this past year’s junior midgets who came finished as runner ups in the Southeast Regional championship.

Donny Moore

At the center of the controversy, coach Donny Moore of Sweetwater, is the only one who has been silent

Principal among them was their offensive coordinator and widely accepted as the face of the entire program, Mike Lundy, a talented young offensive mind. Lundy, known for his enthusiasm on and off the field, tempered it last season in order to keep his team focused. It helped them win another city championship but they didn’t have enough and lost to eventual national champion, Liberty City in blowout fashion.

That loss seemed to prompt the shake up, though there are no confirmed reports. The Sweetwater leadership has now asked Lundy and his cohorts not to move up to the Midget level with this team, the assumed next step. Instead, they are being asked to move down to junior pee wee and start from scratch. This, even though, they have publicly proclaimed that this will be their final year coaching in youth football.

We hash out all the issues for everyone to make their own determinations. Listen to the most explosive episode of Hotbed Radio yet. It’s a Hotbed World!
