Jacksonville, FL— The 2014 Hotbed Classic is in full swing and day one saw one of the most exciting games in Hotbed Classic’s three year history. The 12U Central Dekalb Black team took on South Florida’s East Boynton Wildcats. It was a closely contested game with Central Dekalb’s experience as an unlimited weight team ultimately making the difference. The final score was 13-7 Central Dekalb.
Both teams came into the game being highly touted as their 11U seasons were tremendously successful. East Boynton was the defending All-American division UYF 11U National Champions. The Central Dekalb team had won their league championship in the Metro Atlanta area and held other accolades to their credit as well.
The 8U MOT Cowboys impressed with a win over the Gainesville Rattlers and the 12U Cowboys also won with a resounding 35-0 shutout of the JPJ Raiders.
Lastly, the teams from Maryland and Mobile walked away from Friday’s action with victories. Maryland won 7-6 over the JPJ Raiders in 14U in a shortened game due to unsportsmanlike like conduct while the Mobile Panthers 12U won a barn burning game over the Gainesville Rattlers.
