West Coast Combine: Upland Combine Recap: Don’t let the rain get you down

2015 WCSR Combine

The West Coast Super Regional combine lived up to the hype. We had a great turnout of close to 200 kids regardless of the rain that tried to spoil the day. We absolutely had by far the largest amount of talent Southern California has to offer in one spot. Youth football will be forever changed due to Football Hotbed and the wonderful parents and athletes who came out to support such a great event. The combine had the perfect amount of kids for an historic day unfortunately the mark was missed due to circumstances of organization and rain. Nonetheless athletes, parents, coaches and staffed braved the weather to provide an experience only Football Hotbed can provide.

The kids without a doubt had a blast meeting new kids from different areas or joining old friends they often compete against. The children were put through a battery of agility test like the 40 yard dash, shuttle drill, broad jump and power ball toss. Many had their scores recorded however there were a few unrecorded athletes due to rain delays and lack of time. Due to the rain and  mainly the accuracy issues that Football Hotbed prides itself on there has been an announcement that there will be a day were all athletes that participated in the combine that Saturday April 25th will be allowed to return and do the entire combine, with a dry field, position drills, 1 on 1  drills and our coveted awarding of golden tickets. Football Hotbed would like to remind everyone that the combine is a true evaluation of talent by our staff to determine All-American athletes to get invited to compete in our All-American Game in Florida. The entire combine was not performed and not one Golden Ticket has been awarded. Golden Tickets will be awarded at the combine that we will repeat. The repeat combine will be free of charge and admission will only be each child wearing the Football Hotbed shirts they received April 25, 2015 in Upland, CA at the combine. Football Hotbed once again is excited about the talent that Socal has to offer and the opportunity to show everyone why Football Hotbed Combines are so special.

A silver lining of the combine series was the success of Football Hotbed’s first tournament series that featured some of the top talent teams in all of California. The teams competed both at the 12U and 14 age groups. The tournament was very competitive and displayed a talent and skill level rarely seen at such a young age level. Football Hotbed would like to thank all the coaches for their participation and bringing their teams out to play in our tournament. Every team deserved to be there, however the champs at the 12U division was non other than the I.E. Ducks from Corona, CA with MVP honors going to Josh Lorick and Anthony Beavers. The 14U championship game went hard in the rain between Real Speed of (Orange County, CA) and La Verne Elite of (La Verne, CA). After 5 overtimes Real Speed Walked away with the trophy with MVP’s Cameron Hurtado and Kyle Ford

At the end of the day it was a great day for the children. Football Hotbed has taken full responsibility for putting on another combine for all who were in attendance. The excitement will build once again as we look forward to awarding All-Americans and letting the athletes really compete with their own respective age groups. Once again Football Hotbed would like to thank all of its supporters and followers and we will see you again in a few weeks to get it right and celebrate our All-Americans.
