High School: National Showcase Game Has ‘Classic’ Potential


Plantation, FL– The bright lights of Friday night will be shinning tonight on South Florida as national high school football powers, American Heritage (Plantation) hosts Booker T. Washington in a pre-season classic that has national championship implications.  It will be a match up of two Top Ten ranked programs in the United States whose rosters a laden with Division 1 caliber talent.

The story lines are rich also.  Head coach Pat Surtain for Heritage makes his High School Football coaching debut.  The former University of Miami Assistant Coach, Tim ‘Ice’ Harris is back on the sidelines for Miami Booker T. Washington after spending two years as the running backs coach for the Hurricanes.  This game is a resume building opportunity for both teams with national championship aspirations.  Each team is ranked in the national high school football polls. And USA Today give each team their highest ranking at No. 6 and No. 8 respectively.
