(17) Booker T. Washington (2-3) vs. Coral Gables Cavaliers (2-3)
Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium 7 p.m.

Talk about a “gut check game”.

Both teams enter this game on the heels of suffering tough losses this past Monday.

Booker T. had its rally fall short against Columbus while Coral Gables lost a quintuple overtime heartbreaker to district rival Miami High.

These teams cannot allow one game to beat them twice – meaning they can’t let Monday’s losses carry over to the weekend and lead to letdowns.

While the stakes are high for both of these proud programs – because they don’t want to fall into a 2-4 hole – they might be just a bit higher for the Cavaliers because a loss puts them at great risk of not making the playoffs.

The Tornadoes have the benefit (or detriment) of not playing in an official district, so their main concern is just to stockpile points.

With the loss to Miami High, Gables is now in a must-win situation later this year when it plays Columbus (Oct. 27) while also needing to earn winning points the rest of the way.

On the surface, the matchup sways in Booker T.’s favor.

Booker T. quarterback Daniel Richardson and his receivers will test the Cavaliers secondary – probably more than it has been tested all year.

Also, I know Tornadoes head coach Tim “Ice” Harris is tired of losing and he’ll have his squad ready to run through five brick walls to earn a victory again.

Bald Prediction = Booker T. wins 27-17
