Spring break can be spent in many ways.  Kids can party, go to the beach or simply lounge around on the couch and catch up on their favorite shows.  Some kids want to make the most out of life as well as spring break.  College tours provide an opportunity for athletes to get a feel of the college campuses and coaching staffs.  The Football Hotbed Spring Break College Tour brought athletes to major Division one programs and gave them that feel of what it would be like to play D-1 ball. Nice way to spend spring break.

“It was a great experience,” said 2019 four star DB Tyique Stevenson From South Dade High School.  “One of the best parts was just chilling with the guys.”

Stevenson de-committed from Florida about five months ago but Florida remains high on his radar.

“I had a good relationship with the previous coaching staff  and with them being let go caused a setback to who I could trust.  I like the new staff and they seem to have the program headed in the right direction.”

Stevenson is looking to focus on improving his game for the upcoming season and remains unsettled on a top 5.  Stevenson also received offers from Rutgers, Nebraska, Baylor and Arizona State this week.

Others who attended the tour were 2019 LB Ge’Mon Eaford from Deerfield Beach High School, 2021 WR Robert Floyd Jr. from Blanche Ely High School and 2021 DB Corde St. Louis from South Broward High School.  Among the colleges visited on the tour: Clemson, Florida A&M, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina and Georgia.  Four star Eaford and Stevenson also visited the University of Miami on Saturday.  The attendees viewed practices from each school, met with coaches and toured the campuses.

The Tour was run by Hotbed’s own National High School Showcase Director Nick Cabral and National Middle Showcase Director John Hodge.

The experience was probably most valuable for the 2021 players.

“It was a great experience for me because not a lot of freshman get to experience what I did,” said St. Louis.  “They opened my eyes to the potential that I have and if I continue to work on my craft as a student and an athlete there is no telling where I’ll go.”

Clemson, Florida and Ohio State are the frontrunners for Floyd with Clemson emerging as the favorite.

“I was impressed with Clemson the most,” said Floyd.  “They have always been my favorite school and I really like the campus.”

St. Louis felt fortunate to spend his spring break on the tour rather than just being at home.  At Florida, he learned of their marine biology program which is the program he is looking to study.  Clemson, however impressed the freshman the most.

“My friends back home I’m sure were just home being bored playing playstation.  While I am spending time with college coaches getting my name out there. It was overall a great

experience and more people should do it.”

The Football Hotbed Spring Break College Tour is an invitation only event that will be held annually.
