What State Is The Football Hotbed? The Draftees From the 2018 NFL Draft Are Mainly From Three States

Marcus Benjamin @_benjaminmoney

The 2018 draft had many surprises.  The Cleveland Browns selecting Baker Mayfield number one, and Denzel Ward number two were the first among them.  Two brothers, Tremaine Edwards and Terrell Edmunds both drafted in the first round and for the first time will be playing on the different teams in the pros.  We also had two draft picks from Australia and one from Canada.

So, where are the players from the 2018 NFL draft from?  Of the draft picks most of them are from three states. Florida had the most draft picks with 33, Texas came in second with 28 and California came in third with 26.  Surprisingly, Virginia (15) and North Carolina (14) rounded out the top 5.  The top five named were the only states to have a draft pick in every round.

First Round

Florida and California tied for most first round draft picks at six apiece.  Three of the top ten quarterbacks selected were from California. Of the six defensive backs chosen, all are in the eastern time zone.  Wyoming, Idaho and Minnesota all beat out Tennessee and South Carolina surprisingly with at least one pick in the first round.
