The journey starts early for many aspiring to fulfill the dream of becoming a NFL draft pick. Making big plays on the field are the start of believing that those dreams can become a reality. Kemani Brown earned the nickname “Showtime” because way before Brown became a teenager he was making big plays creating a show on the football field. Making an impact at different positions was natural for Brown, but in high school is when he would strive to become an NFL quarterback.
“I started playing when I was six or seven and I played running back and wide receiver,” said Brown. “My first year playing quarterback we won the championship, then the next year I played defensive back. I decided my 13u I was going to play quarterback and never went back.”
Showtime is working on becoming a better leader for his team. The 2020 dual threat quarterback is looking to gain every advantage to become a better field general and can easily launch the ball 60 yards. He started at Hallandale High School before transferring to Miami Carol City following his mentor and head coach Benedict Hyppolite. He chose to transfer to Miami Northwestern for his junior year because of the opportunity to be apart of their track program. Brown runs in the 110m and 300m hurdles.

At Northwestern, he anticipates he will be apart of a dual quarterback system with former North Miami High School 2019 quarterback Isaiah Velez for the upcoming season.

“He may start one week and I may start the next week,” explained Brown. “I felt like Northwestern would be the better fit for me in a two quarterback system.”

Brown is set to attend the Football Hotbed Underclassmen Showcase at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. At the showcase, participants will also have the opportunity to compete in the Future 4 Quarterback Experience. There he will look to sharpen his mechanics and become a better quarterback under the guidance of QB engineer Drew Phillips.

“I need and improve my form and use my legs when I throw the football,” said Brown. “I want to show everyone how strong my arm is.”
Colleges currently showing interest in Showtime are FAU, FIU, Valdosta State and UCF. He is interested in Sports Medicine and currently has a 3.2 GPA. The starting quarterback for UCF, Mckenzie Milton, last year lead his team to an undefeated season. McKenzie is similar in stature to Brown as both stand at 5’11.” His dream school is surprisingly the University of Kentucky.
“Its something about [Kentucky] that drew me in and I know they’re known for basketball but now they are on the come up in football and they recruit in South Florida heavily.”
Kemani is looking to follow in his family’s footsteps as his cousin Nolan Carroll went to the University of Maryland and played seven years in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
