Fort Lauderdale, FL – There is no rest in the offseason for football players on the middle and high school level looking to get better and create exposure for themselves.  Offseason camps are where players sharpen their skills, get offered by major schools and may gain a star or two on their ratings. The Football Hotbed National Middle/High School and Specialist Exposure Showcase gave all an opportunity to get noticed.

“A lot of competition out here, everybody putting in work, it was a good experience, said four star and University of Miami commit Marc Britt the formerly at Champagnat Catholic (Hialeah) now at Miami Christian.  “The competition is tough everywhere [in South Florida].  The best part about these camps is to get better.”

This was a two day camp held at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  The first day, Friday, was held for  middle schoolers looking to get noticed. Saturday was a combination of middle school and high school kids competing on a high level.  There were over 200 participants at the event with high school coaches like Jason Taylor of St. Thomas and head coach of Cardinal Gibbons Matt Dubuc in attendance.

Also, Football Hotbed conducted its Future 4 event on site.  The Future 4 competition helps to develop quarterbacks with their mechanics with quarterback engineer Drew Phillips.  Most notable of previous participants in the Future 4 competition is Oklahoma commit and Spencer Rattler.  Rattler, now a five star quarterback, was crowned the best at Nike’s National Competition The Opening Elite 11 in Texas a few weeks ago.

All positions on the football field had an opportunity to compete one on one against their peers.  The event culminated with a seven on seven tournament where elite high school players were broken up into four teams and competed for the championship.  Kemani “Showtime” Brown of Miami Northwestern lead the red team to the seven on seven championship.  Brown and Deon Jones of Norland High School received quarterback MVP honors.  Miami target, and four star Tyrique Stevenson from Miami Southridge, earned Safety MVP honors and was simply the best player on the field as he played both offense and defense during the tournament.  Stevenson is willing to be a two way player on the next level if given the opportunity.

“Pretty sure if a college is willing to let me put in the effort, time and dedication, I’d be willing to do it,” said Stevenson.

Stevenson has his five schools in mind that he would like to visit but has yet to reveal a top five.
