Deerfield Beach, FL – . The ideal situation for every college athlete is to know where one is going to college the following fall. For two standout players from Deerfield Beach High School, the dream of playing major college football became more of a real reality in a crowded Buffalo Wild Wings in Deerfield Beach Thursday night. Players, coaches, family and friends all greatly anticipated the decision of the young athletes as the commitments streamed live on the Tony Sands Radio Show. The two standout athletes committed to D-1 programs that will be thrilled to have their services. Four star linebacker Gemon Wilson committed to Oregon and three star defensive end Brandon Dorlus committed to Virginia Tech.
“Now I can focus on my team, said Dorlus. “We are trying to win a state championship now. We want to be the first team in Deerfield history to win a state championship.”

Dorlus chose the Hokies over Clemson, Nebraska and Florida. As he made his decision while his father stood behind him with a Miami Hurricanes shirt and mother with a Florida Gators shirt.
“When I come down to play Miami it will be fun,” said Dorlus. “I grew up a fan of Miami and my family will be here so I am already looking forward to it.”
Most around Wilson thought he was going to either Florida or Florida State. The Football Hotbed Middle School All-American and Linebacker MVP at the Exposure Showcase, surprised many with his commitment to the Ducks. He stated that he has always been a fan of Oregon because of the fast offense and their uniforms. He established a relationship with first year head coach Mario Cristobal since he was an assistant at Alabama.
“Oregon has been my favorite school since LeGarrette Blount was there,” said Wilson. “I was just waiting on [Cristobal] to give me the offer. It felt like home.”

Wilson chose Oregon over Oklahoma, Florida State, Florida and Nebraska. Oregon was his last visit and felt like it was the best choice for him to be away from home.
“People might think I am going [far] way, but Oregon felt like home. I am far away from everything and going to start a whole new life.”
Deerfield Beach is will continue with fall practice and open the season against 3A state champion Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood).
