Davie, FL – University School (Davie) (9-1) came into tonight’s match-up undefeated and unchallenged through their first nine games. They outscored their opponents 468 to 60 and were looking to carry some momentum into the playoffs. Their winning streak came to an abrupt end Friday night as the Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) (8-2) Lions feasted on the Shark defense. Miami Hurricanes commit Thaddius Franklin shredded Uschool for 279 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns.
“It was a hard week of practice,” said Franklin. “We competed everyday in practice and it paid off.”
The sophomore Franklin committed to the U last week joining senior teammates Te’Cory Couch, Keontra Smith, Cameron Williams and junior Willie Moise who all previously gave verbal commitments to the Canes.
Franklin would start the rout for Lions as he took a hand-off around the edge for a 1-yard touchdown run. In the second half he would explode for a 64-yard touchdown run where the Shark defense was worn down as many players play on both sides of the ball.
“I think they were tired in the second half. They go both ways so I think they were tired.”
Chaminade’s second touchdown would be controversial as Penn State commit John Dunmore wrestled the ball away from stand-out defensive back Xavien Flowers. Both players seemed to have equal possession as the official ruled in Dunmore’s favor.
“Crazy play,” said Dunmore. “I had to make a play for my team. I had to lay it on the line for my quarterback. I told him to throw it up and I had to pull it down.”

Dunmore would also score on a ten yard touchdown catch to extend the lead 24-0 right before halftime.
Seniors Couch and Williams would get interceptions in this game as the Lion defense stifled the Uschool offense.

Junior Rony Bourdeau would also get an interception in the endzone to help preserve the shut out. Miami target Kenny McIntosh failed to get anything going as he was a non-factor.
“This win feels good but we have to have a short term memory,” said Dunmore. “It’s on to the next week and get ready to grind.”
Chaminade will seek to win back to back 3A state championships for the first time in its school’s history.
Despite the humbling loss, University clinched home field throughout the 4A playoffs and will look to get back on track as the postseason begins next week.
