Four Star LB Khris Bogle Flips from Alabama to Florida

Fort Lauderdale, FL – On January 5, 2019, Khris Bogle (Cardinal Gibbons), the linebacker from the Florida 5A state champions, decided that he would join Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide on national television on NBC. During the telecast of the U.S. Army All-American Game, Bogle chose the Tide over Tennessee, Florida, and Miami.  Bogle claimed that competing against the best and a Saban home visit was the reason for his first commitment.

“It meant a lot because he doesn’t usually do home visits,” said Bogle when explaining why he chose Alabama. “He took time out of his schedule and came down [and also] knowing that I could compete against the best each and every day.”

Since then, Alabama lost in the national championship game to the Clemson Tigers and lost some coaches from their staff.  Five Alabama coaches left the program in the month of January including defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi.  Lupoi is now the defensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns.

“Coach Tosh, I understand that he had to go the NFL,” said Bogle. “I’m happy for him and some other coaches that left.”

One of the determining factors for Bogle was playing in the SEC and staying somewhat close to home. Bogle was a Miami lean for a while, but with the recent turnover of coaches in Coral Gables it was tough for the Canes to land Bogle in Miami.

“I made my decision this morning. I prayed last night I barely slept last night I was up until 3:00 AM thinking about it.”

Bogle visited Miami last weekend and Florida earlier in January.  Bogle has complete trust in Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham and Head Coach Dan Mullen after a 10-3 season and a dominating 41-15 win over Michigan in the Chick-Fil-a Bowl.

“It’s not too far from home but it’s not too close to home. When I went up there for my official visit I enjoyed the visit and I just believe in them. Coach Grantham and Coach Mullen they are going to treat me like I’m their own son at the end of the day.”

The four-star 6’3″ 212 pound Bogle is looking to compete for a starting spot right away at linebacker for Florida.

“The spot is open for me to come in and compete. I’m excited and I’m ready to go right now.”

Florida opens the season at Camping World Stadium against Miami in Orlando. Florida is currently winning the recruiting battle with this 2019 class in the state of Florida and will be looking to win on the field during the season.  Florida also beat out Miami for fellow four stars Michael Tarquin, Keon Zipperer, and Lloyd Summerall on early national signing day in December.
