Pylon Panama City Championship ‘It Was All a Dream”

PANAMA CITY BEACH- The Miami Dream 7 on 7 all-star team, comprised of players from all over Miami-Dade County, took home the Pylon 18U No Seniors Championship on Sunday topping a crowded field of competition and walking away with the trophy.  Team owner Artie Burns, a former first-round draft pick of the Pittsburg Steelers and University of Miami defensive back, called both the offense and defense the entire tournament for the Dream.  Overall, the Dream had just enough defense to Edge out Team Rise, also out of Florida from the west coast run by former FSU QB Adrian McPherson.

The Panama City Pylon Tournament talent hailed from all over the southeast, as sort of a preview for the upcoming talent that will line up in the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences.  The Dream’s championship was won on defense in a tournament where the offense was the storyline going into championship Sunday.

The team was paced by overall tournament MVP 2022 wide receiver Adrian Harris III, a Miami Northwestern junior (recently in from Homestead) that made big plays all weekend.

A pair of quarterbacks were key in the win for the dream, Khalil Anglin a 2022 signal-caller from Miami Killian High, and Matt Ivaldi a sophomore from St. Thomas Aquinas were both key to the win for Miami Dream. Anglin did the heavy lifting in the championship as he used pace and heady play to ensure his team’s victory finding Harris and former Miramar WR Marvin Sims for big plays while the defense held.

In the end, it was enough to give Team Miami Dream a 21-18 win and a victory.

Day one started out shaky for the Dream as they lost a close battle out right off the bus to Team Gas Crew from Birmingham, AL 8-6.  They would bounce back, however, beating Team Ceedy Ducks 20-6 and edging past Slime U from Lousiana 14-12.

As the No. 11 seed in the tournament, Dream forged one of the hardest paths to a championship that a team could make.  They opened up with a 19-12 victory of 251 Family White (Mobile, AL0 and then took on No. 6 seed Lousiana Elite and earned a narrow 31-28 victory.  Next, they’d have to take on the talent-rich C3 Elite from Navarre, FL and neutralize 4-star WR Raymond Cottrell, the country’s #4 wide receiver. That win earned them a birth in the semi-finals against team Coastline Stars (a composition of gulf coast talent).

After earning another narrow win, the Dream would face Ri5e and come away with the overall victory. They finished the tournament 7-1 only losing the first game they played.  It was a great performance by a great 7 on 7 team.
