Miami Among Top Four For Elite 2024 Wide Receiver

Life can change quickly.  For Jeremiah Smith, the last 12 months might be the best year of his life, but the 2024 wide receiver still has so much ahead of him.  Going into his high school junior season, Smith already has a state title under his belt with Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) with ultimately everyone on offense returning for another championship run in 2022.  Smith joined Chaminade in 21′ to play with a championship program.

“The last couple of months have been great,” said Smith at the Football Hotbed Seven-On-Seven Classic tournament.  “Especially getting to talk to college coaches and visiting different campuses.”

Smith (6-2, 185) was an attendee of the Football Hotbed National High School Showcase where he along with other participants visited the 2021 national champion Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide

Bama offered the night before Hotbed’s seven-on-seven tournament by way of a former Miami positions coach.

“Coach T-Rob, who just got there, texted me and told me to call him,” said Smith of now Alabama DB Coach Travaris Robinson.  “I called him and he said you have an offer from the University of Alabama. I was very excited, it feels great to get an offer from a program like Alabama.”

The self-proclaimed Miami Hurricanes fan did not speak very highly of the previous coaching staff.

“Now it’s getting better,” said Smith of his relationship with Miami.  “When Coach Manny Diaz was there, I wasn’t really talking to anyone over there, but now I get texts from Coach DVD asking about practice.”

Coach DeMarcus Van Dyke welcomed Smith to Coral Gables as he was one of many at Miami’s ‘Elite Prospect Day,’ where many prospects from across the country visited the campus days before national signing day.

“I had a good conversation with Coach Cristobal, said Smith of his visit to Coral Gables in January.  “Miami will always be one of my top schools, because it’s home. I grew up a Miami and a Alabama fan.”

Smith has elite skills as a wide receiver from the slot or on the outside.  Most impressively, Smith can high point the football over defenders and come down with the football with the best of them.

Most glaring is Smith’s speed and his ability to get into open spaces.  In seven-on-seven tournaments with the 2024 South Florida Express team, his play has stood out along with Miami Central wide receiver Joshiah Trader.

His chemistry with his Chaminade quarterback Cedrick Bailey is getting better with each tournament and will be fun to watch all year.

Smith plans to visit Florida State March 5th and has already visited LSU and Ohio State twice.  Unofficially, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, along with Miami is his top four schools. Smith also picked up an offer from Oklahoma this week.
