Las Vegas, NV — Recruiting the state of Florida should be a priority for any college football program. For Florida schools, recruiting the west coast can significantly bolster the chances of landing the number one recruiting class in the nation. Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mario Cristobal has deep roots planted on the west coast because of his time as head coach at Oregon.
Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey was one of the most impressive players on day two of the Overtime OT7 seven-on-seven league tournament on Thursday. The (6-2, 207) wide receiver from San Jose California hoped to receive an offer from the state of Florida during his recruiting process. Cristobal helped grant his wish.
“When he went to Miami, I got excited,” said Dickey of Cristobal taking the head coaching job at his alma mater. “I just wanted one offer from the state of Florida. It is something off of my bucket list scratched off.”
Coach Cristobal offered Dickey at Oregon and re-offered the four-star 2023 talent after moving to Miami. Dickey recently visited Miami and thoroughly enjoyed his experience. The senior enjoys fishing and competed in a black fisherman’s hat at the OT7 tournament.

“I’m a big fisherman, so when they first told me that you can fish on campus, I was in,” said Dickey. “I stayed there until 5 o’clock fishing.”
The city of Miami appeals to Dickey as he looked into what life would be like to live in the Magic City. Dickey is hoping to return to Coral Gables in the future, but is uncertain about a timetable.
“I love Miami,” said Dickey. “I’ve been researching Miami my whole junior year. Actually my whole life. I want to buy an island out there.”
Dickey committed to Oregon just last month, but continues he continues to weigh his options.
“Obviously I am committed to Oregon, but I want to see what’s out there. I’m still trying to figure things out right now.”
Dickey is a solid receiver that runs sharp routes and has reliable hands. He has a great understanding of finding open space and uses his body to create separation. The senior is a complete receiver that can play in the slot or on the outside.
