Prospect Spotlight: 2025 DB Gabriel Avin

Hollywood, FL– As college recruiting staffers officially open up full communication with rising junior prospects, Football Hotbed will spotlight a few 2025 class athletes who need to be added to the recruiting boards of division one programs nationwide.  Treasure Coast (FL) High School athlete Gabriel Avin is one such prospect.

Avin is a two-way player who we think has a future at the defensive back position at the next level.  He’s a legit 6-feet, two inches guy who has good size at 195 pounds and length to match.  Playing this off-season with a national semi-final finishing Team Reign 7v7 team out of South Florida, Avin helped his team to a top 4 finish at the Shock Doctor-sponsored “Legends Showcase National 7v7 Tournament” in Tampa this past April.  He’ll take the momentum of a great off-season into this fall 2023 season at Port St. Lucie County Treasure Coast High, playing for head coach Irvin Jones.

Treasure Coast has been the home of much success on the field and several division-one prospects lately.  Most notably Eden James, the son of Hall of Fame running back Edgerrin James.  The younger James plays for FCS Howard University, an HBCU in our nation’s capital.  We believe Avin has division one potential also.  Here’s the tail of the tape:

Scouting report: A prospect who continues to develop. A physical defender with a good strike and possesses good size for the college level.  Shows range and length and hips that allow him to move.  Good hands at wideout but plays in a run-first offense, camp workouts at WR do prove he has the ability.  Best days on defense in the future because of size and length.  Will continue to grow in coverage and very good in run stoppage.  Could potentially play outside linebacker in college. Has the size already.
