Miami Norland Scores 26 Second Half Points to Down Miami Central in OT

MIAMI, FL- It was billed as the game of the year. And that’s a lot of hype to live up to, but Friday night’s contest between Miami Central and Miami Norland lived up to every bit of the pre-game expectations. And even though the Rockets of Miami Central raced to a 20-0 first half lead, 20 unanswered points and an overtime field goal from Noah Sidon the 2026 kicker for the Vikings.

Miami Central got off to a fast start as quarterback J.C. Evans, who recently committed to Jacksonville State (AL) scored a rushing touchdown to get the Rockets on the board.  Evans, who is normally the back-up quarterback got the start against Miami Norlan, presumably because the Vikings defensive line is fast and prone to attacking the quarterback. Evans is universally considered the more mobile of the two quarterbacks who get significant playing time on the Rockets roster.

With scores from Anjuan Coleman and a beautiful Khaleal Sterling run after the catch to score, the Rockets seemed to headed toward a steamrolling performance one might expect from a nine time state championship team.  But Miami Norland wouldn’t go quietly.  Quarterback Ennio Yappor, Jr. locked in and led his team down the field to score coming out of the half.  Another quick scored made it a one-score game and the game was tied as Yappor hit 2025 WR Jade Card for a touchdown reception late in the second half.

The score was tied at 20 a piece as each time struggled to convert their extra point field goals.

But under Yappor’s leadership and the clutch kicking of Sidon, the Vikings would come out on top in one of the best games ever played in Miami-Dade County Football History.
