TALLAHASSEE- The final game together for the nation’s No. 1 player, 2024 WR Jeremiah Smith, five-star Joshisa Trader, quarterback CJ Bailey and running back Davion Gause couldn’t have ended in more grand fashion than a 56-0 win over Clearwater Central Catholic in Thursday’s Florida High School Athletic Association’s 1 Metro class final. Smith finished the day as one of the most prolific wide outs in the state’s history.
Clearwater Central Catholic entered the game undefeated with key wins over FHSAA state championship series attendee Berkeley Prep and perennial state power Trinity Christian Academy, however those victories left them completely ill-prepared to face a Chaminade Madonna Lion team that may be one of the best this state has ever seen.
Bailey, the trigger man, found multiple wide outs and Gause ran for touchdowns in a dominant performance for head coach Dameon Jones, who is 211-15 at Chaminade in 8 seasons with 6 titles. Chaminade is ranked No. 2 in the country by Football Hotbed’s The Mecca Sports National Top 25 and also in Maxpreps. Today, they made a case for being the best team in the entire country.
