Football Hotbed’s Freshman All-American Game Boast ‘Big Name’ Alumni

The Football Hotbed Freshman All-American Game or National High School Freshman Showcase is the most prestigious all-star showcase in the country.  Since its inception, the game has produced the most high-profile alumni and has nearly 40% rate of Division I production.  To date, 82 student-athletes have enrolled to play Division I Football having first played in this Freshman All-American game. We are so grateful for the impactful experiences we’ve been fortunate to provide students and parents and hope to grow in every positive aspect in the years to come.

Freshman all-american Game alumni

Initial freshman class of 2020

The inaugural Freshman All-American game stemmed from the desire of the 2020 class of Middle School All-Americans having the desire to play a freshman game. Previously, Football Hotbed had never hosted a high school showcase and had been predominately a youth organization.  In January of 2017, however, that changed.  Our most prominent alumni from the first game is SEC safety Rashod Torrence of the University of Florida (Los Angeles Rams, free agent).  Torrence was joined with several other student athletes who would eventually play Division I ball.

freshman class of 2023

The Football Hotbed Freshman All-American game class of 2023 is headlined by Freshman Defensive player in the ACC Rueben Bain of Miami, FL.  Bain is widely considered a potential first round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.  He enters his junior year at Miami as one of the nation’s top prospects. This year’s Freshman All-American game went to overtime, a first in the history of Football Hotbed Showcase All-star games.  All told, at least 19 Division I prospects played in this game. It’s the most competitive game ever played by freshman in the United States of America.

Freshman class of 2024

The game was headlined by College Football’s best player, Jeremiah Smith of the defending champion, Ohio State University.  As only a freshman, Smith amassed over 1,000 yards receiving and caught 15 TDs as a true first year college player.  Smith had an MVP effort during his time on the Hotbed platform.  He played in both the Freshman All-American game and then again as a sophomore in the Sophomore Showcase where he had a pick-6. This game produced 15 Division I prospects with a few in junior college and the chance to move up.  Several Division II prospects came out of this game also.

freshman class of 2025

The freshman class of 2025 is headlined by a young man who reclassified up to the 2024 class, finishing high school after the first semester of his junior year. The MVP of this year’s game was Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Armondo Blount.  Blount is currently a true sophomore for the University of Miami.  He began college at just 16 years old.  He had an eye-popping 9 tackles for a loss in his Freshman All-American game, leading to him becoming the third-ranked player by 247 Sports in the 2025 class before he moved into the 2024 class.  This game produced six division I prospects with a chance for more through junior college and reclassification.
