High School Football Weekend Round Up | IMG Wins Big, Miami Central Upended

West Palm Beach, FL-– Football Hotbed was present and broadcast live from No. 2 IMG Academy’s 38-0 win over No. 18 Oxbridge Academy on Thursday night.  The IMG Ascenders were poised to come in and reassert themselves as a top national power after a 19-day layoff.

Kellen Mond

It was the four star Texas A&M commit, Kellen Mond, who stole the show.  The dual threat quarterback was largely locked down from going through the air against Oxbridge’s stout defensive backfield.  However, Mond quickly went to the air to score.  Mond showed why he’s been so heavily sought after as the 6’3 quarterback showed off his size speed and vision against the Oxbridge Thunderwolves.

And even in a losing effort, the Thunderwolves announced themselves on the national stage.  They were trailing 7-0 after the first drive and pushed down to the 2 yard line on runs from RB James Meeks and QB Gio Richardson but only to be thwarted by a massive IMG defensive line.  Oxbridge proved they could play with anyone and though their depth was tested against the Acenders, they will be a tough out for any 3A Florida High School opponent and have quality wins already against 6A Miami Carol City (have clinched playoff birth) and 8A defending champion Pembroke Pines Flanagan.
