Miami Central Survives Booker T. Washington, Preserving National Showcase

Miami— Late in the fourth quarter Thursday night at Traz Powell Stadium, four star running back James Cook muscled his way into the end zone for the go ahead score that would give Miami Central the lead and eventually the victory over Booker T. Washington, 19-17.

Cook played the game under the weather with flu like symptoms and as he has done during both the preseason and the first game of the year for Miami Central, he lined up at several different positions on offense.  Booker T Washington’s junior quarterback Daniel Richardson tried to bring the Tornadoes back but his team missed a go ahead field goal with 44 seconds left in the game allowing Central to escape.

Next for Central, they travel to the desert next week in Las Vegas to play No. 2, Bishop Gorman.  But before the Gaels play Miami Central, they have a big test Friday night against Mater Dei, the consensus number one team in the country.
