Bald Predictions – High School Football Week Eight

Posted in:

Even though it doesn’t really feel like it, there are only three weeks left in the regular season.

The next two weeks will be huge in terms of determining the 2017 playoff picture. While the point system continues to give folks false hope, the best way to secure your spot on the bracket is to win as many games you can over the next three weeks – especially district games.

Remember (in my Traz Powell announcer voice), the only teams that are guaranteed to make the playoffs are the district champs.

Last week was fairly uneventful, save for a monumental letdown by the defending Class 8A state champions. This particular team from “down south” had a lot to say after I picked against them two weeks prior, only to get dropped off at Krispy Kreme when I did pick them to win in week seven. Not a good look.

We have a loaded potato with this week’s slate of games. There are a couple marquee games featuring big-name programs and more than a handful of high-stakes district matchups.

One of the common threads we’ll see this week amongst the teams that earn victories will be their ability to make plays in crucial situations. That doesn’t only mean catching the game-winning touchdown or making a late field goal.

It is making a catch on 3rd-and-6 to put your team in the red zone in the second quarter or fair catching a punt at your own 30-yard line instead of letting it bounce and having it get downed at the 14-yard line.

Do your job now, so you don’t look like this later…

Record last week: 32-6
Season record: 186-31 (.857 Correct Pick Percentage)

44 games picked this week with three games in the Bald Predictions spotlight.
