Bald Predictions – High School Football Week Nine

Posted in:

(15) Chaminade-Madonna Lions (4-2) vs. (17) Doral Academy Firebirds (7-1)
Thursday at Doral Academy, 7 p.m.

This is a low-key intriguing game.

Quietly, Doral Academy is having another very good football season. Right under everyone’s nose, the Firebirds have something brewing. Head coach Jase Stewart has put together a great coaching staff and they a lot of young talent in the program.

Chaminade, a team that a lot of folks were enamored with at the beginning on the season, seems to be finding its stride. After a big win over Booker T. Washington this past week, the Lions just might be starting to peak.

This game will be a great litmus test for Doral Academy. While the Firebirds have steamrolled the rest of their district and has all but sewn up the District 16-7A title, they haven’t had the chance to line up against the upper echelon teams consistently. When they did face another Football Hotbed Top 20 team (Champagnat) – they lost.

Conversely, the Lions have stood toe to toe with some of South Florida’s elite.

That’ll be the difference in this game.

That, and Shaun Shivers. I predict “Worm” runs for 125 and a pair of touchdowns in this one.

Bald Prediction = Chaminade wins 35-24
