(San Antonio)-Team Maryland was by far and away the best 7th grade FBU team in the tournament. They took on a very tough NW Lousiana team and eventually broke away from them to claim the title. Earlier in the tournament, they knocked off the pre-tournament favorite, South Florida who had only surrendered 7 points. Maryland beat them 30-7 in the national semi final. Led by quarterback DeJuan Ellis, this team had too many athlethes, great size and exceptional team speed. They will look to come back next year on the 8th grade level and repeat as Champs, becoming the only team who could do this as this was the inagural year for the 7th Grade National championship with FBU.
