Coral Gables, FL – The Miami Hurricanes invited many recruits from across the country to view their Saturday practice at Greentree Practice Field for Junior Day.  They got a huge turnout. Mark Richt and his staff held a practice with shoulder pads for the first time this Spring. Recruits and their families watched as Richt and his staff went to work.

“Everyone of those kids I saw on the sideline had a big smile on their face,” said Head Coach Mark Richt.  “They love the energy and the way we go about our business.”

Notable recruits in attendance were four star LB and Florida State lean Lloyd Summerall out of Auburndale, FL and four star TE and Florida lean Keon Zipperer out of Lakeland, FL.  The recruits invited did get a tour of the campus, dined in the on campus restaurant known as the Rathskellar and did get some time with position coaches to see exactly how they could fit in with the team.  Recruits also got a great look of the 73,000 foot indoor practice facility that is set to be ready by fall camp. Thirty four million dollars has been put into erecting the state of the art facility.

“They can look to the left and see this indoor [facility] being built so they know that we’re serious about doing things the right way in terms of facilities and brand new dormitories are getting ready in August 2019.”

Senior Running Back Trayone Gray received reps today at fullback as the offense is looking to run an offense that gets the fullback more involved this season.

“He is still a very capable tailback for us but we wanted to see what he can do.  He’s big, strong and physical and we do run a little more 21 than we did last year.  Twenty one meaning, two receivers, two running backs with a true full back being one of the two backs and a tight end.”

Coach Richt plans to hold scrimmages for the last three Saturdays of Spring practice with the Spring Game held at Hard Rock Stadium on April 14th.
