The 2018 Texas high school football season is quickly approaching and prospects are beginning to trade in their shirts and shorts for helmets and shoulder pads. Here are some wide receivers to watch from Dallas-Fort Worth and its surrounding areas that will put up numbers this fall.
2019 WR Jostein Clarke (Prosper) – The All-District selection from Prosper High School is a certified difference maker for the Eagles offense. He tracks the football well and comes down with the majority of the 50/50 balls thrown his way. Clarke also possesses the athleticism needed to line up at QB in the wildcat when the Eagles venture into the red zone.
2019 WR Jaden Smith (Kennedale) – Jaden Smith is a big target that uses his long, 6’6” frame to shield defenders when the ball is in the air. His large catch radius is a huge asset to his game. If the two-sport athlete decides to continue playing football, then he will be the ideal red zone target at the next level.
2019 WR Dylan Jantz (Gunter) – Dylan Jantz is a three-star athlete that does it all for Gunter. He has a good set of hands, the ability to run after the catch, and is a solid blocker on the edge. The 2019 playmaker currently holds a Power Five offer from Syracuse.
2019 WR Dakota Pullum (Winona) – Dakota Pullum lived up to his nickname “Juice” in 2017. He is an explosive athlete that has no problem exposing defenders in coverage or in the open field. In 2018, he’ll look to build on his thirteen receiving touchdowns from a year ago.
2020 WR Jay Wilkerson (Midlothian) – If you’re in the opposing secondary against Midlothian, then you better find Jay Wilkerson. If not, then he’ll find his way to the end zone. Wilkerson has a good set of hands and makes tough catches look routine.
2020 WR Brandon Engel (Lake Dallas) – Brandon Engel hails from Lake Dallas where a once overlooked Josh Jackson also starred for the Falcons. Engel transitions well in and out his breaks for his size. With his reliable hands and route running ability, he always puts himself in position to move the chains.
2020 WR Brandon Chatman (Boswell) – Chatman may stand below six feet tall, but he was head and shoulders above the competition when operating from the slot last season. Don’t sleep on this 2020 prospect because he can also line up outside and be just as effective. Not to mention he has the speed to go the distance.
2021 WR Billy Bowman (Ryan) – It’s hard to imagine that Bowman has three more years of high school football left to play. You can see flashes of an elite skill set from his explosiveness to his overall playmaking ability when turning on his tape. Boston College has already come calling with his first offer of many.
2021 WR Deamikkio Nathan (South Grand Prairie) – Remember the name Deamikkio Nathan because he’s a Class of 2021 prospect to watch. His stock went up this offseason as Bowling Green has already put in an early offer for his services. Nathan is one of those prospects who will have 20+ FBS offers by his senior year.
2021 WR Majik Rector (Lancaster) – The DFW area’s Class of 2021 WR group is loaded and Majik Rector is one of the talented receivers to watch out for on the list. Rector is an explosive young player that will figure more heavily into the Lancaster offensive game plan this season. Expect him to see an uptick in touches which will increase his total yards per game and touchdowns as a sophomore.
