T48 Camp Making An Impact On South Florida Football Community

Posted in:

Football camps are a big part of the off-season.  They provide an opportunity for players to improve their skills and create notoriety for themselves.  Coaches work with players in improving their skills and players compete against their peers for bragging rights.  T48 Football Camps provide a platform for coaches and players to work together to raise their level play and serve a greater purpose.

“We provide a great camp to give guys football knowledge,” said founder Javan Shashaty.  “Hopefully they grow as a football player, but more importantly we pray they grow as a man and seek the Gospel.”

The camp was held at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale Friday night where Shashaty played quarterback from 2008-2011.  He set numerous Broward County records including the Florida state passing touchdown record. He now serves as the overseer of the high school ministry at Cavalry.  The camps are in its third year of existence and camps are held every first Friday of the month here in the off-season.

“T48 stands for Timothy 4:8 which is a verse in the new testament which says physical exercise has some value but Godliness is value for all things,” explained Shashaty.  “Football taught me more about life than it did about football, so that’s why we wanted to start something like this and we got a great team around us that has taken this vision and made it more than I could even imagine.”

T48 averages about 200 participants per camp.  Players mostly from the tri-county South Florida gather on the football field at Calvary and participate in individual position drills with high school coaches from the surrounding area.

Next, one-on-one drills take place for all football positions which then are followed by seven-on-seven passing scenarios. The drills then conclude with a fastest man competition. Friday night’s fastest man winner for the third time in a row was 2020 receiver Andison Coby (Deerfield Beach).

Coby is a versatile wide receiver that will gain offers this season and continues to make a name for himself at these T48 camps. Coby also was a stand out player at the Football Hotbed National Showcase in Georgia.

Also, making a name for themselves were the positional MVPs:

Courtney Bucknell (Deerfield Beach)

Leo, the native from France and Team Football Hotbed seven on seven quarterback, loves the game of football and enjoys the work he gets to put in at T48.

“It’s a really, really good camp,” said Cremade.  “I really like the system they have going here.”

Also, having great camp Friday night was QB Pete Zamora (Monarch), WR Tavares Mitchell (Hialeah) and TJ Gordon (Cardinal Gibbons).

The next camp will be held on the first Friday in June being that next month most teams will have Spring Practices and Spring games.

“This is a way for guys to play the game that they love but learn more.  I’ve seen lives that have been changed through this. I’ve seen guys that have made decisions that radically changed their future and it started here at T48.  To do something that impacts someone life and change who they are…it’s special.”

Each camp concludes with a short sermon.  For more information on T48 visit their website at t48football.com.
