ATLANTA- The Football Hotbed National Specialist Showcase in Atlanta featured some of the best kicking talents in the southeast. The overall MVP was 2021 kicker, Carter Davis, of Plantation, Florida, and Western High School (Davie) after just edging out Miami Northwestern’s Leo Zuazo.
The Miami senior Zuazo was the overall point winner in the kicking portion of the event (Field Goals and Kickoffs), beating out Davis by going 100% on field goal kicks during the competition. However, Davis won the punting competition and that, coupled with this third place overall kicking score and record 2-min drill was enough to give him the overall crown. Top-notch 2022 kicker, Will Bettridge, finished second to Zuazo in points and was the overall 2022 class winner.
The class of 2023 winner Roswell Bond of Grady High in Atlanta.
Davis, a former Football Hotbed Middle School All-American, notched a 121 point total in the 2-min drill score (partially in the rain) which is the highest score ever tallied by National Specialist Showcase head coach Cedric Oglesby.
Charlie Cooper, 2022 punter from Tucker High in Georgia walked away with the punting MVP. He finished third in overall punting behind Carter Davis and Ethan Greenburg (2021, Grady High) but had a dominant performance in the last man standing drill in the rain to capture the punting crown.
The Middle School MVP was Balint Vorosmarty of Roswell, GA. The 2026 kicker edged out some high schoolers in the total score earning a Football Hotbed Middle School All-American bid.
