Upon Further Review: Max Exposure Showcase MVP Turns Heads

Hollywood, FL— It’s rare, but it happens.  We made a mistake. At Football Hotbed, we’ve held several showcase events since 2014 and during those times, we always try to provide as much exposure to the athletes who perform the best.  This is especially important during the year of a pandemic where athletes who aspire to play College Football are hampered by not being able to attend college camps and make unofficial and official visits to campuses to bolster their recruiting.

This year, during our Max Exposure Showcase, we named MVP’s and awarded prizes to those who performed the best at their positions. However, upon further review, we noticed we left one young man out who was clearly one of the best players on the field at our September 12th event in Kissimmee, Florida.

I made an appeal to the young man via Twitter because after reviewing the film from the camp, I knew he probably felt slighted and told him that we would give him the proper recognition for what he did on the field that day. So on September 14th, I wrote “man you were the best DB at our camp. I watched the film and it was obvious.” I then went on to say “I apologize, but I’ll fix it in the article.”  That article is the one you are reading.  It’s been delayed because of one thing or another getting in the way and just really a bunch of excuse making but here it is. And after two very respectful emails from his father, I decided, I need to get this done.

So what follows is a profile on a talented young man out of Central Florida who is a 2021 defensive back that you should get to know. His name is Jaurice Thompson and he’s from Groveland, Florida. Take a look at the highlights from the camp, you’ll see why we had to give him the credit he deserved. He’s the only DB wearing blue and white compression shorts.

Jaurice Thompson wasn’t named MVP during our Max Exposure Showcase but upon further review, he more than earned recognition for his performance.

The Other MVPs from the event were:

Overall MVP: Katravis Geter (FIU Commit)

Jaden Williams, QB

Malik Young WR

Nathaniel Garnett, WR

Justin Smith, DB (two interceptions)

Sidarius Walker RB
