Top Schools Making Push For Potential Five-Star

Fort Lauderdale, FL — Pittsburgh and Georgia are set to host a potential five-star receiver.  Hykeem Williams, (6-4, 205) the dynamic playmaker out of Fort Lauderdale Stranahan High School has all of the intangibles to be one of the biggest stars to come out of South Florida.  He will visit Pitt and the defending national champions for official visits this spring.

“I hope to commit soon,” said Williams during spring practice.   “I want to take all my visits first.  I’ll take the rest in the summer.”  Other schools Williams is hoping to visit are Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and USCClemson would be a first-time visit for Williams.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, Ohio State had two wide receivers selected back-to-back in Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave.  Former Alabama receiver Jameson Williams, originally signed with the Buckeyes before transferring to the Crimson Tide, was drafted next. The strong showing by OSU was impressive to Williams and his other seven-on-seven South Florida Express teammates. Williams admittedly stated that the draft plays a factor in his school destination.

“It’s a big part of it,” said Williams, “That’s the main goal, to make it to the league, so it plays a big role.”

The Miami Hurricanes had zero receivers drafted this year, but remain firmly as one of his top schools. The 2023 talent wants to get down to Coral Gables again but is unsure if his visit will be an official visit to UM in the summer.  Williams also wants to visit Texas A&M and Florida State for unofficial visits.

“I got a good relationship with them,” Williams said of Miami.  “I talk to them a lot.”

What may be surprising to some is how often Williams mentioned Pittsburgh as one of his top schools. Pitt wide receivers coach Tiquan Underwood was the first mentioned when it came to loyalty.

Williams had 31 catches for 693 yards and averaged nearly 100 yards per game.  Williams would like to make a decision before the start of his senior season.  Williams also led Stranahan to a state championship in basketball scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the title game.

This fall, Williams will likely be catching passes from the versatile Clint Danzey Jr. The Plant City transfer will add a dangerous dimension to this Dragon offense.  Stranahan coach describes the 2023 signal-caller as young Deshaun Watson.  The (6-0, 170-pound) athlete from the Tampa area decided to travel down south in hopes of getting more exposure in his senior year.

Also on offense is running back Sincere Rodriguez.  The (5-11, 200 pounds) native of Puerto Rico currently holds group of five offers from Bowling Green and Navy

Also, a prospect to keep an eye on is Roland Majors (6-4, 240 pounds.  The two-sport (basketball) transfer from Avant Garde (Hollywood, FL) has the potential to be a legitimate force on the outside rushing the passer.
