Pompano Beach, FL– After coming into last January’s National High School Showcase as a relative unknown, 6’2 defensive back Jamari Howard used the Football Hotbed platform to prove that he could compete with the best.
The Westland Hialeah High (FL) class of 2024 cornerback enjoyed a strong game, earning Most Valuable Player honors because of his lock down coverage. He’s since turned that effort into a national ranking garnering over twenty division one offers.
This week, Howard committed to one of those power five offers in the Big Ten. He pledged his commitment to head coach Mel Tucker and Michigan State. Coach Tucker was a big recruiter of South Florida talent during his time at the University of Georgia as the defensive coordinator. It appears that he’s tapping back into the pipeline as he tries to return MSU to prominence.
If last year’s 11-2 record is any indication, Tucker already has MSU on track to be one of the elite teams in college football. While off to a slower start this season, commitments like that from Howard on yesterday and a re-establishment of relationships from East Lansing to Miami-Dade County could serve to reinvigorate the Spartans heading into the offseason.
