Raleigh, NC – The Class of 2032 Future 4 Quarterback Competition at the 12th Annual National Middle School Invitational Showcase produced another memorable finish as defending champion Rhys Magness of Jefferson, GA successfully defended his crown against one of the deepest quarterback fields in the country.
Entering the final round, the competition was wide open. J.J. Love and Brantley Jankovich sat atop the leaderboard after Day One with 46 total points, while Magness and Lallitto “Lino” Pasqualino were tied just behind them at 45.25 points. With less than one point separating the top four quarterbacks, the championship remained firmly up for grabs heading into the finals at Ravenscroft School.
When the dust settled, it was Magness who once again rose to the occasion. The Georgia signal-caller delivered the most consistent performance of the championship round, accumulating 21 points in the finals to finish first overall and capture his second consecutive Future 4 title.
Love, who entered the day tied for the lead, finished as the competition’s runner-up after posting 18 points in the final round. Lallitto, from Chesterfield, Ohio, used a strong championship performance to secure third place overall, while Brantley, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, rounded out the finalist group after reaching the championship round for the second consecutive year.
“The margins were incredibly small all weekend,” said Future 4 Director Drew Phillips. “When you look at the scores, there really wasn’t much separating the top quarterbacks. Rhys showed why he’s the defending champion. He handled pressure, stayed consistent, and made the plays he needed to make when it mattered most.”
The Future 4 competition serves as the premier quarterback evaluation event for middle school athletes nationwide and is one of the marquee attractions of Football Hotbed’s National Middle School Invitational Showcase. The two-day event began at Duke University before concluding at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, where quarterbacks were tested through combine drills, routes-on-air sessions, accuracy challenges, football IQ evaluations, and live competition.
Magness’ victory continues what has become one of the most impressive résumés in recent Future 4 history. Despite entering the championship round trailing the leaders, he delivered when the stakes were highest, becoming the first quarterback in the Class of 2032 to win consecutive Future 4 championships.
As finalists, Magness, Love, Lallitto, and Brantley each earned automatic invitations to Football Hotbed’s 13th Annual Middle School All-American Game, scheduled to be played in South Florida this winter. Their performances throughout the weekend further solidified their standing among the nation’s top quarterbacks in the Class of 2032 and ensured that all four will be names to watch in the years ahead.
