All things must come to an end at some point.  As high school football fans we just were not sure when it would happen for Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale) against American Heritage (Plantation).  Last Friday, Gibbons would snap their 11-game losing streak to Heritage in another classic game.  Marshall commit Sidney Porter would be the hero for the Chiefs as he was able to catch a deflected pass and take it 75-yards for the game clinching score.

Miami Carol City versus Miami Northwestern is usually one of the biggest games in the country let alone the state.  Like many Chiefs opponents this season, the Bulls were completely overwhelmed by their cross town rival.  The one-two punch of quarterback Daniel Richardson and running back Nay’Quan Wright were were loose at Traz Powell Stadium Friday night.  Richardson lead his team to a 22-0 halftime lead completing 8 of his 16 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Wright ran for a 46-yard touchdown on the ground, threw a 28-yard touchdown to Michael Bucknor and caught 17-yard touchdown along with a two-point conversion to boot.

In a bizarre occurrence at the game, an altercation in the stands and on the field caused many to believe that shots were fired at the game but none were reportedly actually fired.  There was about a 45 minute delay as a result, but the Chiefs remained focused and undefeated.  Many around South Florida are greatly considering this team to be the best Carol City team ever, which is definitely saying something.

Bloomingdale (Valrico) made a statement this weekend by defeating Tampa Bay Tech by double digits 33-24.  Lance Alderson, the 2020 quarterback accounted for three touchdowns with two going to his senior receiver Terrel Ferrell.  Bloomingdale has a strong chance to win its first district title in school history with the win over previously unbeaten Tech.

Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens) ran all over Forest Hill (West Palm Beach) Friday night with a 40-6 rout.  The Panthers ran for 304 yards on the ground as their opponents never really had a chance.

Western (Davie) came up with a big victory over Plantation over the weekend.  Senior quarterback Jesse Rivera scored two touchdowns to hand the Colonels their first loss of the season.

The Vero Beach Fighting Indians are the champions of their district for the fifth straight year.  They defeated Treasure Coast (Port St. Lucie) 34-31 to extend their regular season winning streak to 51.  Vero will host a first round regional playoff game with the win.

Top Performers
